Why do I love photography? It’s not the challenge of f-stops, shutter speeds, or manipulating in Photoshop that appeals to me, but the essence of life itself that speaks to me through the camera lens. It is as if nature and I are having a conversation. First I hear the whole forest. My focus narrows to a stand of birches. Then a branch with a single leaf speaks to me. When the light joins us, it is as if we are a full orchestra. Some say I capture nature, but nature enraptures me. I have even been moved to tears as I click the shutter. When I photograph people, I am in tune with capturing or rather ‘freeing’ an individual’s true essence.
